Photoshop Xtreme Text Effect

In this tutorial you will learn how to create the text effect shown in the picture above. This tutorial is extremely easy, only 3 layers are used (including the background layer) . Fast and easy steps, nice and smooth outcome, that’s the way I like it!

We will walk through 2 simple steps.

1) Making the text layer;
2) Making the reflection layer ;

Lets get started!

WidgetBucks - Trend Watch - WidgetBucks.com

Step 1.

Create a new Photoshop document of 400x400 pixels. Fill the background in black by pressing Command/Ctrl+I while the background layer is selected. Grab the text tool, set the size of the font to 100pt (going to the toolbar just below the application menu) and write a word like “Xtreme” using “#60bf06” or another color similar to this one.
Now let’s add the following effects ( Layer>Layer Style and: )

My outcome so far is this:

Step 2.

Duplicate the text layer (Layer>Duplicate). Create a new layer on top of this duplicate. Select the two layers (the new blank layer and the duplicate layer) and merge them.

Flip the resulting layer vertically and move it (using the Move Tool) down.

Now the image should be like this:

The only thing that remains now is to mask the top layer and fill the mask with the black and white gradient.

Now wasn’t that fast?! For more fast and easy tutorials, please support my blog by subscribing and digging the articles you like. Thank you.
Enjoy!

I cant merge the text layer try to explai more carefully.

I cant add gradient at the end it isnt explained at all.

To merge the text layer you need to
1) Duplicate the Text Layer ( in this case the layer that has XTREME written in it).Let's say this is "Xtreme MERGED".
2) Create a new layer. This layer is left black. Lets say this is "Blank".
3) Select the 2 layers, "Xtreme MERGED " and "Blank" and PRESS Ctrl/Command + E.

Let me know if you need more help.

To apply the gradient you need to:
1) Make sure the MASK is selected. When you mask the reflection layer, the text layer merged with the blank one and flipped vertically, and play with the gradient tool a bit. I guaranty that you'll get the trick.

If you don't know where the MASK is, it is the white square in the right side of the layer (you can see the "result" arrow pointing to it).
Then ,after the gradient was applied (the gradient has to be black and white (000000-ffffff)), you can see the "after arrow pointing to the result".

Try to play with it a bit. Leave a comment if you need more instructions. I will add another image if necessary. Thank you for the comments.

also try adding a stroke with a red to green gradient and making the outer glow bigger adds a cool affect

this is one of the best text tutorial i have ever seen....its nice & simple. very very good one THX alot mate
